Now, There is New Help for Anxiety, PTSD and Depression as Psychedelic Research Goes Mainstream

I’ve been follower of Tim Ferriss since a patient told be about “4 Hour Work Week” years ago.  I’m not an avid fan, but I certainly pay attention to his podcast and blog.  He’s mentioned many times that he’s been getting involved in the psychedelic research and this article lays it out.  There have been some positive results with dying patients, PTSD, and addiction. I read about LSD microdosing years ago in an op-ed by Ayelet Waldman, (Michael Chabon’s wife) and it has apparently been adopted by Silicon Valley types. Now, she, Michael Pollan and TC Boyle have all written books about psychedelics and how they’ve changed their lives.  Anecdotally, I have two friends who had a good experience doing Ayahuasca in weekend workshops.  We need better answers and maybe this will provide some of them.  The opiate crisis alone is reason enough to “think outside the box” and try some other solutions.
As with all medications, I’m conservative at heart.  First Do No Harm and all that.  But desperate times call for desperate measures, and this may be a desperate time for many.
